They’re few and far between, but occasionally #chuck prefers me to the #cohabitant.
I’ve not yet figured out which days she’ll screech when my wife picks her up, scream if she’s out in the swing, but settle when I grab her and plop down on the couch.
I’ve formed a theory. Sometimes when I’ve worked ahead on the bottle washing and chores around the house, I get to grab #chuck during her mid-morning nap. It’s the days when she wakes up in my arms after the restorative snooze that she gives me an easier time.
Of course, I’m not normally home to snatch her up, so the #cohabitant enjoys the snuggles and earns a steadier ally than the tentative truce #chuck and I require.
I think I prefer it that way… If the baby is going to have a favorite let it be the lady who runs the house all day every day. Maternity leave won’t last forever.
But in all seriousness, we can’t judge our relationships with our daughter on a day to day basis. It will take a lifetime of being ‘dad’ before I’ll be able to tell if #chuck likes me or my wife better.
Yet another reason why I was pulling for a daughter… there is a reason they’ve got the term “daddy’s girl”. #teamdad
