Baby Changing

I’m sure you clicked on this post to read the hilarious accounts of #Chuck shooting shit across the room while my wife laughed so hard that she peed on the carpet. Apparently childbirth affected the liquid release valve a bit more than we expected.

Instead, this post is my attempt to reflect on the past few weeks and how drastically #chuck’s personality changed. A few buddies relayed stories of their offspring and how after the first few months of regular screaming fits magically one day the baby woke up with a more relaxed personality.

I didn’t expect it to happen to us. I thought #Chuck would be the second coming of Andrew Jackson with a temper on a hair trigger. I pictured Veruca Salt meltdowns for the next 18 years before sending her off to the military to harness her rage.

But then magically, she woke up one day and instead of screaming from her crib the quiet babble of a baby talking to herself floated from the baby monitor.

Before, she’d fuss with strangers present. Now she enjoys quietly watching people. Before, she’d wail at being held in the wrong position. Now she squeals in delight in differnt postions, carriers and strollers.

#Chuck smiles, laughs and plays.

We loved our tiny infant, but HOLY SHIT were the first four month hard. The last few weeks have been a joy.

Moral of the stories: Babies change. But I bet she’d still shoot shit across the room if given the right opportunity.

A new, relaxed outlook on life
