The Napping Chronicles

On Saturday morning Dad takes over.

I usually get #chuck up in the morning with my wife is fast behind me getting ready for work. On Saturday morning, I try to give the #cohabitant a bit of breathing room, for both her mental health and mine.

Inevitably, I spend some time pinned under the napping baby and, if I’ve left my phone in the correct pocket, I get a chance to swipe through the phone or jot down some bullets for a #dadblog post like today.

Forced stillness used to make me bounce my leg and produced imaginary itches on my nose. Charlie’s aversion to sleeping (#FOMO) requires me to stay still during, so I’ve been told, the most restorative period of rest in her day. Feels like a lot of pressure to make sure she naps well, but here I am taking this non-serious nap very seriously.

Here I sit given another gift by my daughter. It’s a chance to be bored, which feels like an ailment of the young. Boredom isn’t as bad as I remember it. Not too bad at all.
