A Case of the Uh-Ohs

The toddler learned a new phrase: “Uh-oh.” I describe her version as a self inflicted “uh-oh.”

The complete grasp of the concept alludes her. Sometimes her usage adorably fits. She’ll take a digger after tripping on her own feet and exclaim “uh-oh” from the ground.

Other times, she’ll look me or my wife (MY WIFE!) in the eye, drop her sippy cup, and say, “uh-oh!” The first few times were cute, the next couple got a chuckle, and then we began to realize we’d need to break her of another habit… or cross our fingers and hope she grows out of it.

I can’t fault her. I still put off important chores or projects until my lack of planning creates urgency or worse emergency. All of the suddent, I’m cashing in favors and asking for extensions knowing full well I could have avoided it all with a little more action and a little less inaction.

Self inflicted “Uh-oh,” indeed.
