We got our priorities all mixed up.
What our priorities should have been:
- Baby Sleep
- Baby Eating
- Us eating
- Us showering
- What other people want
Getting these out of whack on Christmas Eve resulted in disaster. Both #Chuck and the #cohabitant were inconsolable.
The baby because she’s been passed strong to a bevy of strangers. My wife because she couldn’t immediately calm the baby who was freaking out in the middle of the family party.

I saw the trainwreck in slow motion. #Chuck passed off to the 15th relative. I can’t believe she held it together as long as she did. But then she didn’t.
The #cohabitant takes great pride in her ability to calm our daughter. Unfortunately this was all too much. Too many strangers, an unfamiliar place, and all too late in the day.
#Chuck screamed and kept screaming. The #cohabitant fueled by a lack of sleep and poorly worded advice lost her composure.
We left early and the stress of the night carried us through a viewing of A Muppets Christmas Carol.
Luckily the movie brought two important lessons. First, even grumpy Scrooge knows the importance of priorities. Next time my #daditude will look like…

And second with a little time and mental recover the sun will rise again and on this day for all of us…

Happy first Christmas #Chuck
