Last night as I washed the dishes, my wife snuck up me. “Do you wanna watch something tonight?” she said.
I glanced at the clock. 9:24pm. I replied “It’s kinda late. By the time I finish these it’ll be after 9:30.”
“It’s Saturday night, and a long weekend,” she countered.
I fell in to an old mindset. She was right. We should take the opportunity to take advantage of a little extra time and relaxed pace of life on a long weekend.
But we were both mistaken. Even if we’ve got all the time int he world, the baby is still going to get up when she wants to.
Having a baby in the house is like buying the world’s worst alarm clock. Every night we set that alarm clock without the slightest clue when that alarm clock is going to wake us up.
Charlie has been sleeping exceptionally well. But now she may be woken by her first tooth tearing through her gums or nights where she sleeps like a log and is well rested enough to be wide awake at 4:30 a.m. To keep us on our toes, she sometimes screams bloody murder and then settles immediately.
Like all parents, we wish #chuck knew this was a long weekend meant for a few extra minutes relaxing in bed.
Back to our rebelious decision to start a newly released RomCom on Netflix. All those points about the baby’s sleep schedule didn’t matter anyway.
We tried our best and decided to go to bed after watching as much of The Lovebird’s as possible. 31 minutes. We made it to 10:11 p.m.
Early to bed, rise whenever we’re told.
